A cup of coffee is always preferred whenever we meet someone at a coffee shop or just like to chill out when you are alone. Coffee also works for those people who work like a night owl and helps them to keep them awake during the night and focus on their work. This works as a natural stimulant for the people and many people are just sipping on the coffee number of times in a day. But the thing is that everything has its pros and cons. Enjoying coffee is a good idea but then you should know how much coffee you can consume and is it really suitable for you. Like every positive side, it also has its negative side as well. The main spoiler of the coffee can cost dearly mainly for your brain if you take it in excessive quantity.
According to a recent study, it has been shown that increase in the intake in the amount of coffee can escalate the risk for mild cognitive impairment in a person that is (MCI). This problem generally happens with the progress of age. But too much of coffee can start this problem early on. Cognitive impairment can trouble the person in remembering, learning new things, concentrating and making decisions that is necessary in our everyday life. It is also categorized as a symptom of early dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Research has revealed that the increase in the consumption of coffee can also increase the risk of MCI over a period of time.
From the findings of the Italian longitudinal study on ageing suggested that cognitively normal older individuals who never or rarely consumed coffee and those who increased their coffee consumption habits had a higher risk of developing MCI.
There are also other problems as well which are adjoined with the overconsumption of the coffee. It has been found that coffee can become very addictive and some individuals just cannot stay without consuming nearly six to seven cups of coffee per day. This is almost equivalent to the addiction of smoking cigarettes. Plus the over consumption of the caffeinated drinks can disrupt your sleep to a great extent. If too much of coffee is consumed it can even lead to jitteriness, anxiety, heart palpitation and even exacerbate panic attacks. The biggest damage that it does is to your sleep. Your quality of sleep decreases and instead of sleeping for good eight to nine hours you sleeps only two or three hours a day.
As you become addictive to coffee this addiction can become an issue in the later stages. People who have coffee on a regular basis become tolerant towards it. Later the coffee can stop working in the way it used to work for them. Also when the regular coffee drinker stops taking coffee abruptly it also shows withdrawal symptoms. They get withdrawal symptoms like headache, tiredness, brain fog and irritability. These symptoms can last for few numbers of days. Therefore these are some of the drawbacks which can occur if you consume lot of coffee than required.
